Aims:The purpose of this study to evaluate the role of urban services in urban flourishing in the metropolis of Isfahan and to identify the dimensions that have the greatest impact on enhancing urban flourishing. To this end, the relationship between the quality of urban services and the level of urban flourishing in different areas of the city was examined, and the key dimensions influencing urban flourishing were identified.
Methodology:This applied research was conducted in 2025 in Isfahan metropolis using a mixed-methods approach (quantitative–qualitative). In the quantitative phase, data from 384 questionnaires were analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). In the qualitative phase, 30 semi-structured interviews were conducted with urban management experts, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Integration of the two datasets was performed through comparative interpretation.
Findings:The quantitative results showed that urban services have a direct, positive, and significant effect on urban prosperity, and that infrastructure, spatial justice, and governance have the strongest explanatory power. The qualitative findings also confirmed this pattern, indicating that spatial inequality in access to services, weaknesses in critical infrastructure, limited citizen participation, and environmental challenges are key barriers to sustainable prosperity in Isfahan. The convergence of quantitative and qualitative evidence demonstrated that urban prosperity in Isfahan depends primarily on the quality and equity of urban service provision.
Conclusion:The findings indicate that urban prosperity in Isfahan is multidimensional and unstable, and improving it requires enhancing spatial justice, strengthening critical infrastructure, and developing participatory governance. This study provides an integrated framework for explaining the role of urban services in prosperity and can serve as a scientific basis for justice-oriented, resilient, and sustainable urban planning in Isfahan metropolis.
