Aims: Many universities in the present day exert a substantial influence on the economy, society, and environment, as they bear resemblance to miniature cities in terms of their scale and population. Universities bear a significant responsibility in formulating a vision for the future in the realm of sustainable development. Confronted with pressing issues such as shifting weather patterns, scarcity of environmental resources, and environmental degradation, universities are tasked with establishing a platform for environmental rejuvenation. The implementation of environmentally friendly practices in the development of universities is still in its nascent stages. Hence, the existing research has successfully identified and categorized the various aspects and constituents of a sustainable, eco-friendly university.
Methodology: This research was conducted utilizing the Delphi technique. The panel of experts for the Delphi method consisted of 20 faculty members from Ilam University, who were chosen through purposeful sampling and the snowball technique. The process of examining the data was carried out using the statistical software SPSS version 26.
Findings: The results of the study revealed that, following two rounds of questionnaire distribution, a total of 91 components were identified across 10 dimensions. These dimensions include green research, green organizational culture, green psychology, financing, green administration and accounting, campus sustainability, green education, green management, green specialized and social services, evaluation, reporting, accountability, commitment, monitoring of sustainable development, and provision of environmental information and green participation. These components are crucial for the establishment and advancement of a green university.
Conclusion: Three noteworthy elements that must be taken into consideration in order to attain a sustainable green university are green research, green organizational culture, and green psychology.
