Preparation of flood sensitivity map using SVM model and the impact of green city development on the increase of flood flow peak and the resulting damage

Aims: The expansion of cities, especially cities that have seen abnormal growth due to economic, social, and political changes, has caused many problems. It has been found that land-use change, especially urbanization, has greatly affected hydrological characteristics. But in most urban designs, flood forecasting is considered through the type of land use (residential, industrial, etc.) and density. However, experience shows that this method has not been very successful. As a result.
Methodology: The present study was conducted to investigate and discover a different method in Sabzevar. This study emphasizes the relationship between the parameters of hydrological models and the characteristics of urban development, and the scenarios considered in the master plan. The present research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and analytical in terms of research method, which has been collected by documentary and field methods. Preparation of flood sensitivity map using SVM model and the evaluation has been done using urban hydrological models and geographic information systems (GIS) to predict surface flows related to different urban scenarios.
Findings: The results showed that in a comprehensive plan, increasing impermeable surfaces and their effect on increasing water runoff are not emphasized. This has led to increased runoff and flooding.
Conclusion: The model used in this study showed that in heavy rains with a return period of 25 years, floods are mainly associated with blocking the water flow at the mouth of bridges. Also, this method is sufficiently compatible with Iranian conditions and can be used in similar conditions.
