Investigating the Drivers of the Oil Economy Influencing the Spatial Developments of Mahshahr Port

Aims Today, in order to have a correct understanding of the factors of the oil economy influencing the spatial developments of Mahshahr port, it is necessary to know the effective key drivers in this regard. In this regard, this article has tried to identify the drivers of the oil economy influencing the spatial developments of Mahshahr port.
Methodology This article is descriptive-analytical in terms of methodology and practical in terms of purpose. Theoretical data was prepared by document method and experimental data by survey method based on Delphi technique. The statistical population of 20 urban experts was processed based on purposeful sampling and 40 driving forces with structural interaction analysis method in MICMAC software.
Findings The results showed that among the 40 driving forces, the factors of increasing population growth due to immigration, the existence of incompatible urban uses (railways and oil depots), the increase of open space and urban fragmentation, the inefficiency of construction plans, programs and policies, the dominance of transportation means Privatization, population growth, inefficient use of urban land, increasing rural-urban migrations, political division and lack of integration in the decision-making and decision-making system, and the differentiation of land uses are among the key drivers of the oil economy influencing spatial developments. They are the port of Mahshahr.
Conclusion Studies indicate that Mahshahr Port has acted as a development paradox due to its proximity to Abadan, Omidiyeh and Gachsaran oil fields and has suffered deep and extensive spatial consequences and developments. In general, since the occurrence of spatial developments in the economic, social, cultural and physical-spatial sectors and the formation of new functions in Mahshahr port has been spontaneous and without any planned movement, the adverse effects and consequences both on the city itself and It left a mark on the surrounding areas.
